The Association of Villas and Palaces of Lucca, in collaboration with the Association of Parks and Gardens of Italy and the École nationale supérieure de paysage Versailles-Marseille, with the sponsorship of the University of Florence, has established the Biennial National Prize Villas Lucchesi – Marino Salom 2025 with the aim of encouraging specialized training in the field of historical gardens. To this end, theses at the 2nd and 3rd level regarding the study of gardens in historic residences will be evaluated: the commission will assess knowledge, conservation, communication, and accessibility, in order to award three prizes along with special mentions.
Eligible participants include:
– candidates with a degree in the following Master’s Degree programs (or equivalent programs from the old system): Landscape Architecture LM3, Architecture and Civil Engineering Architecture LM4, Conservation of Architectural and Environmental Heritage LM10, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage LM11, Design and Management of Tourist Systems LM49, Agricultural Sciences and Technologies LM69, History of Art LM89, LM48 Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Planning;
– specialists in Historical-Artistic Heritage, Architectural and Landscape Heritage;
– PhD holders who have conducted interdisciplinary theses, or have deepened knowledge of the architectural, hydraulic, and vegetal system with the aim of restoration, management, and enhancement.
Participation is allowed individually or in groups. Graduates/specialists/PhDs must have discussed their theses between July 2023 and July 2025.
