Just a few kilometers from Lucca, from April 3 to 6, 2026, art and nature come together in a unique event in Italy: giant eggs decorated by talented students from the Academies of Fine Arts and renowned Tuscan artists, a historic treasure hunt celebrating its 10th anniversary, and picnics in the most beautiful park in Europe. LUCCA – This is not the usual Easter surprise: this year the eggs at Villa Reale are giant, artistic, and ready to enchant both adults and children. From April 3 to 6, 2026, the historic estate opens its 16 hectares of parkland for “The Royal Villa of Giant Eggs”, an event that transforms the traditional Easter weekend into an immersive experience of games, creativity, and botanical beauty.Art comes to the garden: for the first time in Italy, Giant Eggs decorated by artists
For the first time in Italy, the Villa’s gardens will host an exclusive collection of Giant Eggs. Not simple decorations, but true works of art created by young talents from the Academies of Fine Arts of Rome and Florence together with renowned Tuscan artists.
The artistic direction is exceptional: the sketches were selected by Fabrizio Galli (a celebrated name of the Viareggio Carnival) with the coordination of the internationally renowned artist Maupal; the theme of this first edition is “The Animal Kingdom”.
10 Years of the Treasure Hunt: a special anniversary
The 2026 edition marks a historic milestone: the 10th anniversary of the Villa Reale Treasure Hunt. For the occasion, the challenge returns with a brand-new route across the 16-hectare park:- The Mission: Following a special map, children will search for hidden clues to give names to the “character-eggs” that star in a brand-new story.
- The Prize: For every young explorer who completes the challenge, the treasure chest will be ready to reveal its rewards.
Picnics and Outdoor Living
What could be more iconic than an Easter Monday picnic? The Villa’s lawns will be available for visitors to enjoy packed lunches and snacks on the grass, offering the perfect setting to relax and admire the botanical heritage of one of Europe’s most beautiful parks.The organizers confirm that the event will take place even in case of bad weather. Creative activities and workshops will move into the charming Stables, while the treasure hunt will continue in the park: just bring boots and a raincoat to enjoy an even more adventurous experience!
